International Circulation: I notice you said that with a smile on your face… so you were one of those non-skeptics in the beginning?

Prof. Robert O. Bonow:I was somewhat of a skeptical person in the beginning.  I knew that we could do a balloon valvotomy to expand the value， but that was essentially cracking the calcium deposits and they tended to reform and restenosis with time.  I wasn’t a true believer that one could actually expand a stent inside a calcific aortic valve and in doing so implant a new valve inside the sent that would be successful， but， I’ve been proven wrong.
